Services for Self-published Authors

Main Point Books offer a comprehensive guide to authors to help get their books into print.

Our approach is to keep the process straightforward, speedy and price competitive. Some examples of books brought into being at Main Point can be seen on our sample books page.

We can offer project management, book design, typesetting and can call in freelance editors and proofreaders if they are needed. We can also design or offer feedback on book covers.

How it works

  • First you will need to submit a Word document of the final version of your text.

  • For prose – fiction or non-fiction – the extent should ideally be 40,000–80,000 words.

  • For poetry, assuming one poem per page, you should have 50+ pieces.

  • Illustrations should be supplied as high resolution jpegs (300dpi).

  • The cover image(s) should also should be supplied as high resolution jpegs (300dpi).

  • After a preliminary chat about how you would like your book to look, and how many copies you would like, you will be given an estimate of timescale and cost.

  • We will also advise on technical aspects of the project; assessing feasibility and highlighting adjustments that might have to be made.

  • Nearing the end of the typesetting process, we can obtain quotes from printers and help register the book and your author imprint on Nielsen and Gardners.

  • You might like to look at case studies on sample books.
