In the wake of his diagnosis of terminal cancer, Professor Willy Maley of the University of Glasgow put together this first collection of poems. The pieces span themes of love and courtship, relationships and jealousy, passion and regret, memory and mortality.

One day when we tell our children’s children
how we met, and how we almost
never got it on because of something that I said;
my haste, our steps misplaced,
how we faltered then walked on
hand-in-hand through life
when we could have parted like waves,
